Bespoke Terrain

Here at Angel Barracks we can make any type of scenery you want.

Our terrain tile system is called the ABTerrain© system of modular scenery.

What is the ABTerrain© system?

It is versatile!
By using square tiles you can arrange them so that any style of playing area is possible to create, fields, hills, slopes, rivers, valleys etc

It is portable!
With each tile being 12” square they are easy to store and to transport, how else can you get a 6’ x 4’ wargames table into a bag!

It looks better!
Lets be honest, a river that is below ground level looks better than a river that men have to climb up ladders to jump down into.

Each tile is 12” x 12” and made of 2 layers of cork composite flooring tile.
This means that sunken features such as dips, rivers, ponds etc can actually be carved into the tile.
The tiles are then sculpted where necessary and flocked with up to 5 different shades and grades of scatter material.
The flock is locked into place with PVA wood glue and once finished the whole tile is sprayed with a coat of acrylic.

This attention to detail gives superb looking terrain that is a joy to use, that’s why we have been using it for over 10 years!

Some tiles can be ordered through the site (Due to the weight and size of these items there will be additional postage charges to be advised once the order is placed, it won’t be much though!). ABTerrain© Steep Hill

Made of the 2 base tiles with 3 layers added on top to make the hill.
The steep edge of the hill has been coated in sand and gravel and is rock coloured to indicate a different terrain grade.
All terrain tiles hills are contoured, as it is easier to place men on them and you do not need to worry about figures sliding off.
That and AGS recognises contoured levels of hill in its rules.

ABTerrain© River

This is made by carving the river section into the first of the 2 base tiles.
The riverbed is moulded and sculpted and painted before transparent plastic is poured into the river section and allowed to dry.
Once dry the river is inked and washed to finish off.

ABTerrain© Big Hill

This hill covers 2 terrain tiles as we wanted a big terrain feature for our table.
Again the 2 base tiles are used but unlike the steep hill where 3 layers were added we added 6 additional tile sections to make this mighty hill.
On the far edge of this hill we created a steep rugged section that is covered in scree, this again creates a different grade of terrain, we use this as impassable terrain.

ABTerrain© Hill Plain

This hill is made by adding 2 additional layers to the base tiles.
Not steep like the other hills, just your average normal gentle hill.

This Marsh is set on a piece of 5’ x 7.5’ plasticard so it can be placed freely onto your wargames table. It has tall grass and wetland detailing.

This farm is set on a piece of 5’’ x 7.5’’ plasicard so it can be placed freely onto your wargames table. It includes two small trees, field detailing, a white picket fence and two 6mm Timecast wooden detail farm buildings.

ABTerrain© Farm (Napoleonic Variant)

This farm is set on a piece of 5’’ x 7.5’’ plasticard so it can be placed freely onto your wargames table. It includes one small tree, yard detailing, a dry-stone wall and two 6mm Timecast brick detail farm buildings.

This field is set on a piece of 5’’ x 7.5’’ plasticard so it can be placed freely onto your wargames table.

The ploughed field variant is bordered by hedges and has green detailing. Your field can be the same as this or made to meet your specific requirements. All fields are made to order.

As the ABTerrain tiles are bespoke, prices may differ depending on the standard and type of terrain tiles required. The prices shown here are for the standard and type pictured. (Although as the tiles are hand made there will never be two tiles which are exactly the same, guaranteeing you a unique product.)
